Choosing parquet and preparing for installation
We install traditional parquet in your chosen pattern, prefinished engineered parquet, solid wood flooring, floorboards and laminate. Before installation, we check the subfloor's moisture, flatness and strength. Acceptable moisture depends on the screed type, measurement method and the parquet and adhesive requirements.
The flooring we install
| Flooring | What it is | After installation | Can it be restored? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Traditional parquet | Solid wood blocks, glued in a pattern | Sanding, gap filling, buffing, varnishing | Yes, several times |
| Prefinished engineered parquet | Factory-finished; glued or floating click installation | Use depends on installation method and adhesive drying | Depends on the remaining wear layer |
| Solid wood flooring | Solid wood boards in various sizes | Varnish, oil or wax if not factory-finished | Depends on condition and remaining wood thickness |
| Floorboards | Long boards with joints in rows | Depends on the type | Depends on the type |
| Laminate | Durable, affordable, floating installation without glue | No further finishing | No; damaged sections are replaced |
For solid wood flooring, we choose an adhesive suited to the wood species, board dimensions and prepared subfloor. Laminate cannot be sanded; damaged sections are usually replaced.
Traditional parquet patterns
With traditional parquet, you choose both the block size and the laying pattern. Select a pattern to see how it is arranged.
Herringbone. Blocks meet at right angles in a zigzag pattern. A common choice in Novi Sad apartments.
Chevron. Angled ends meet to form continuous chevrons. More refined and more expensive than herringbone.
Mosaic. Squares of five strips, each turned at right angles to the next, like a chessboard.
Parallel pattern. Long rows of blocks with staggered joints. A calm pattern that visually lengthens the room.
Staggered pattern. Rows offset by half a block, like brickwork.
Border. Herringbone framed by strips of darker wood along the walls.
Subfloor preparation before installation
The subfloor must be flat, firm, clean and dry enough for the chosen system. We assess moisture readings against the screed type, measurement method and any underfloor heating. If conditions are not right, we address the subfloor before laying the parquet.
If the screed is uneven or exposed after removing the old flooring, we carry out levelling before installation.
What follows installation
Unfinished traditional parquet is sanded after installation, gaps are filled, and then the finish is applied. With factory-finished parquet, the time before use depends on the installation method and adhesive drying. Skirting is fitted last.
