Parquet staining in Novi Sad

How parquet is stained

1. 1

   Sanding

The parquet is first sanded back to clean wood, because stain cannot penetrate old varnish.

2. 2

   Dust removal

We remove sanding dust thoroughly; any particles can leave marks in the colour.

3. 3

   Applying stain

We stir the stain thoroughly, including during application, as pigment settles at the bottom. We apply it evenly and remove the excess with a cotton cloth.

4. 4

   Reaching the chosen shade

We repeat the application until the selected colour is achieved.

5. 5

   Varnishing

Once the stain is dry, we varnish the floor as usual.

What determines the final shade?

The same stain does not look identical on every floor. The final tone depends on the wood species, the stain and the application process.

Oak has pores and areas around knots that absorb more stain, making those parts darker and the grain more pronounced. Harder wood generally absorbs less. We therefore apply a sample in a discreet spot so you can judge the shade on your own parquet, not in a catalogue.

Which colours are available?

Light and dark browns are the most common because they are close to natural wood tones: honey, walnut and dark walnut. Grey and white shades are increasingly popular, and bolder colours are also possible.

Why staining needs an experienced craftsperson

Stain is unforgiving. Uneven application, poor mixing or leaving excess on too long can cause blotches and changes in tone visible in any light. Correcting them requires sanding again. Experience is particularly important at this stage.
